School and Vice-Captains on St. Joseph’s Day.
L-R:
Joseph McDonald, Cassandra Nitz,
Rhys Davis and Abby Hibble.
St. Joseph’s Day Celebrations:
The St Joseph’s Day Mass on 19th March was
certainly a celebration. Every student from St
Joseph’s School attended along with their
teachers and the students that were involved
with the Mass carried out their obligations
beautifully.
Shane Thompson (APRE) commented that the
attendance of parents, families and the church
community certainly lifted the performance of
the children on the day.
The captains of the school were inducted into
their leadership positions and the parents were
invited to come forward and pin the badges on
their respective son/daughter.
School Captains: Rhys Davis and Abby Hibble
Vice Captains: Joseph McDonald and Cassandra
Nitz
The St Joseph’s Day awards were presented to
Phoebe Gibson and Joshua Harper. After Mass a
shared morning tea was enjoyed, fun activities
were carried out and a BBQ lunch was
appreciated.
The Knights Courtyard:
Willing helpers were on the job early when the
project to relay the pavers in the Knights
Courtyard at the new Catholic Centre began.
Great progress was made and the finishing
touches were continued a week later. All will be
completed for our official opening and Blessing
by Bishop Brian on 22nd April.
Baptisms:
Three beautiful babies were welcomed into our
faith community during April.
Lockier Benji Duncan Beckett - son of David
and Brandi
Breanna Shaw - daughter of Nathan and Brooke
Luis Robert Collman - son of Robert and Suzane.
Year 12 Easter Service:
On the Tuesday of Holy Week, the Year 12
students from the Biloela High School came to St
Joseph’s Church for an Easter Service. Father
Noel, with the assistance of the school leaders,
led the students in a Teen-ager Stations of the
Cross, while explaining the historical setting
of Jerusalem in the time of Jesus. Ben Conway
and Bronwyn Pollock, the High School Captains
were former students of St Joseph’s Primary
School, and were very familiar with the
situation as they are weekly members, with their
families, of the parish community. The school
reported back that the students were very happy
with the service and enjoyed the way the old
Negro spiritual, “Were You There When They
Crucified My Lord” was interspersed with the
stations.
Father Noel will also lead the Moura State High
School student body and teachers in their Anzac
Day Service on the 24th of this month in the
High School assembly area.
