Feast of Christ the King King of Truth There is a Chinese proverb that goes: There are three sides to every story, one side, the other side and the truth. I recently heard two sides of a vexed and painful situation. Both were telling the ‘truth’ as they saw it but both were suffering because of the perceived actions, or inactions, of the other. And the situation seems hopeless if it is ‘just them’ sorting it out…or rather not sorting it out. They truly need another level: the truth of Jesus. Going to him, listening to his voice will bring in the energy of forgiveness. This is not saying: “Everything is all right. We’ll just forget the past.” It is recognising the pain, seeing where the failure lay on both sides, working to mend that, and re-building the relationship. All very difficult – if we rely on ourselves. But if we turn to Jesus praying for his truth and grace, gradually, gradually, he becomes King in our hearts and we can love with his Love – and that is the greatest meaning of the Truth.
