Pastoral Letter - Lent 2011

My Dear People

I send you greetings as we begin our preparations for the great t¡me of Easter 2011. This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, and I invite you to accept the grace of Lent which is to draw closer to the Lord, to review and renew our own lives and to reach out more generously to one another.

I very especially commend to you our Lenten discussion programme " Being Eucharist to Each Other".

While the Eucharist is the heart of our Catholic life, we are meant to take the meeting we have with Jesus Christ, to the people we meet in our family circle and beyond. It is our privilege to take the love and compassion of Jesus, to everyone with whom we share life. We are called to be Eucharist to each other.

I know you will be generous in your response to Project Compassion. Give the Lord a little more of your time through quiet prayer and Scripture reading. Above all, may you rediscover God's incredible love for you and your family.

Happy Lenten journey.
