My dear people
As we celebrate the wonderful moment of Easter, may I invite you to renew your
commitment to our Year of Evangelisation. To make more practical and realistic
the baptismal promises just renewed, may we commit ourselves -
-
To accept again, in a conscious way, our personal call from God in Baptism
-
To be faithful to Mass, each weekend, drawing strength from the Word of God
and the Eucharist, shared with fellow Catholics.
-
To be people of prayer, each day at midday, and at other times, to allow God
to touch our lives.
-
To focus on others, and their needs, especially the poor and the marginalised.
-
To be committed to the sacredness of all life, especially the unborn and the
elderly.
-
To promote the dignity of all, regardless of colour, race, sexual orientation or
religious faith.
-
To foster justice for all to whom it is denied and to promote peace in our world,
beginning with our own society.
-
To work for unity among all Christians and to dialogue with people of other
faiths.
-
To be protective of children, supportive and affirming our young people,
especially in the light of World Youth Day, coming next year.
-
To appreciate the sacredness of our environment and to protect it as a
precious part of God’s creation.
With you, I will endeavour to take up the challenge of this invitation. I earnestly hope
that Easter will be a time of peace for you, your family and friends, and that Jesus
comes through to us as Risen Lord and a never-failing friend for every moment.
A truly Happy Easter.
Yours sincerely
