About the
St Vincent de Paul Society

St Vincent de Paul Society was foundered by a 20 year old University student, Frederic Ozanam, who was challenged by his peers to show them the Christian love and charity that he spoke of. Frederic had already identified the inequalities that were present in his society but this rebuke by his fellow students caused him to act. His passion and enthusiasm caused others to look into their own hearts and put their faith into action. This movement became St Vincent de Paul Society and to this day the Society calls Members to act, to create a more compassionate and just society and to develop their spirituality through service to the poor.
